improvement meme 2012

wanted to say, i was drawing my whole life, but this meme only goes from 2003-2012. also, coloring guys like j scott campbell and ebas really taught me a lot about drawing from about 2008 onwards..


UPDATE with 3 new years. and this is my most concrete evidence against talent. you can see the improvement through practice, and hours and hours of it. it has been this way since i could only scribble. some dont pick it up as early as i did, but i dont believe i was ever born with any natural talent.
it can be really easy for somebody not at your skill level, or somebody who has never known you to say "wow you're really talented" by 2004, i had already been drawing for 17 years, most of that time quite passionately. already years and years of practice and hard self diligence and self study. it is easy for the lazy artsit having a hard time to call these things skill. to them there is no other explanation. if you took drawings from every year of my life, youd see this progression from scribbles at the age of 2. thats what happens when you practice right.

but to me the entire word can be demeaning, like i was born with something. not earned, as it was, and is. it may be a tomato tomatoe situation, but i just use the word skill. something learned and earned, not awarded.


wow, what a laugh fest! and i guess i'd hoped to see more improvement, damn 2007-2008!

still makes me sad.......

2004 was a really difficult year to represent, so i'll add to it here.

the start of that year i was using a mouse to color everything, and using tons of burn and dodge. i drew all the time, taking my sketchbook everywhere i went producing lots of shit.......



so, new style, new painting style, new wacom, my passion for art had never been higher or since. too bad i sucked XD

this was also the year i joined dA.
