well the only reason i'm attempting to post this right now, right after i finished it, is eric posted it, and now i can get away with it!
hah, well letsee..
this cover was kinda irresistible to start tonight, i was going to have it flatted and just flat half myself, color half. thats not what happened, i just ended up flatting the whole damn thing, took about 3 hours to flat, then i colored it after, that took 4 and a half hours. now you guys know why i pay somebody else to do my flats, it saves so much time!
it was interesting to have so much detail to consider, these sinbad covers really are just an excuse to go NUTS for both the penciller and the colorist, because arabian style is just so gaudy.
anyways, my favorite parts ended up being that vase on the right, both for shine and smoke.
this whole thing was really difficult for me, i kept second guessing myself because her hair had to be red, and i always use so much red on sinbad covers, i kept having to dull down the other reds a tad so she popped more, especially where the lanterns were concerned. i really REALLY wanted to make it a bit darker, like the sun had just set and the main light being those lanterns casting everything in a soft orange glow, but i had to keep it light per eric's request. i just enjoy coloring darker scenes more, shame thats not anybody's favorite from me.
but yeah, i guess even trying to blab i couldn't go on as much as eric just did. you can view the lines in his gallery if you're curious.
