Cover for Final Crisis: Legion of 3 Worlds #5 out in march.
this was the second cover DC gave me to paint.
the first time i got to paint one, was awesome. big big compliment, (painting them is harder no?)
then they started wanting me to paint pat gleason (which i never got to because i didn't know it was supposed to be painted until i digitally inked some messy pencils and colored it as so)
then they give me this, and i have NO idea who it was! no sig you know?
it's george perez, i now know, and i guess i'm lucky there wasn't 50 people on one cover! he was very happy with this, which i was then told is a very hard thing to accomplish.
they've given me pages to paint alongside Rodolfo Migliari too, but i can't show those yet.
anyways, this was a real pleasure to do, really really.
i dont get to paint very often anymore, doing comics. im really jealous of Marko Djurdjevic for being able to do it constantly. i'm really happy people think i'm good enough to do it now and get paid, though. so now i can do it more!
I've been rereading this series this week and happily stumbled on this page. The painted covers were stunning. I loved the warm colors you used in the background that played so well against the colors of Dawnstar's outfit. And the highlights you worked in that George Perez suggested in his drawing are perfect, especially on the wings.
*blink-blink* That was you?!? Its a fabulous piece, but I wasn't able to pick up the alternate cover at my store. Lovely work. I hope more painting projects come your way!
WOW... now thats very amasing i really love it. did u paint it wth paintbrush or just brushes..??? because it is awesome!!!!! it rocked!!!a lot... att.. ME
Its great. But I do have to say (I hope i'm not bein an ass) but your painting smokes the drawing. I see the changes you made, and very nice. I will never understand the industry. It took that guy, what 15 minutes to sketch that? And they say he's hard to please? He should be happy someone like you took that quick sketch and turned it into a very well crafted painting. Something people will look at and be like, holy-crap. Thats badass. They should've just comissioned you to do the whole thing from the begining. I'm not hating on the penciler, but jeez, the diffrence is almost staggering. Good work.
actually george perez is a very highly respected artist in the business.
alot of artists, knowing their work will be painted like this wont put their usual effort into things anyways, because it only gets changed and covered.
